I’ve started questioning reality more and more as I use a VR headset and discover virtual worlds. I have come to realize that there isn't just one reality, and that reality is subjective. Reality can be manipulated by technology, which is my main concern, as well as by propaganda, beliefs, biases, fantasies, illusions, simulations, assumptions, and language. Therefore, reality is relative, and it is not the same experience for everyone.
By definition, reality consists of things that are commonly observed and verified to exist—things that are consistent and not just random. Reality is something perceived as real and physically experienced through the senses.
In my personal journey, I have found ways to manipulate reality using technology. By consuming various media or extending my perception through technological advancements, I alter my experience of the world. Virtual reality, in particular, allows me to create and inhabit entirely new realities. This ability to craft my own experience challenges everything I once believed.
As technology continues to evolve, offering us new ways to experience and interact with the world, this question becomes even more critical. My question has also evolved: is this an invasion of my reality or an enhancement of my perception?
